Wedding at Harburn Estate

Taypark House

The Ritz Trio made their first visit to Taypark House in Dundee to play during the wedding ceremony and then through drinks.

Taypark House is an elegant Category B Listed former Scots Baronial mansion house dating from circa 1863. It stands nestled away in Dundee’s affluent Westend Perth Road area within stunning mature garden grounds which slope from north to south and has outstanding views across the Botanical Gardens towards the River Tay and hills of Fife. The property has recently been sympathetically restored to it’s former glory and now boasts 4 master suites all with huge ensuite bathrooms tastefully fitted out in a Victorian style sanitrywear including a luxurious free standing roll top bath complimented with a separate large shower enclosure. There are an additional 2 more modern rooms on the 2nd floor which take full advantage of the 180 degree uninterrupted panoramic views.

The lovely couple had an eclectic taste of music and for the ceremony the bride entered to A Thousand Years, Christina Perry and left to Pencil Full Of Lead by Paulo Nuttini. They also requested a Lord of the Rings tune, a first for us!

Gilmerton House Wedding Entertainment

The Ritz Trio added a sparkle of entertainment at Gilmerton House over Christmas, setting the mood for a fabulous evening at this great wedding venue in Scotland.

Gilmerton House is an elegant retreat near Athelstaneford, North Berwick. It has six exquisite reception rooms and ten luxurious bedrooms all with their own bathrooms.

You arrive along a meandering drive which eventually opens up to reveal the spectacular frontage of this spectacular Grade A listed building. The Ritz Trio have played at Gilmerton many times in recent years and during the summer months the lovely gardens provide a pretty backdrop to their uplifting music.

The Trio are popular faces on the Scottish wedding scene and are hired by some of the leading hotels in the country and specialise in music for wedding ceremonies, champagne receptions, themed events and corporate entertaining.

The music, played in a jazz style includes something for everyone including their jazz renditions of some popular tunes played with a twist which always get guests singing along!

Wedding Entertainment at Seamill Hydro

If you’re looking for wedding entertainment at Seamill Hydro then the Ritz Trio could be the special addition for your big day!

The Ritz Trio recently performed their unique blend of swing and pop tunes played in a jazzy style at Seamill Hydro this week for a fabulous wedding on the West Coast of Scotland

This is not the first time the Ritz Trio have provided wedding entertainment and Seamill Hydro having played for opening of the Hotel following the refurbishment.

The wedding got off to a great start with the Trio playing in the bar area before moving through to play a more relaxed set over the wedding breakfast. What a view the guests were treated during the meal as Seamill Hydro is
located on the West Coast of Scotland just seconds from the beach and dominated by stunning views of the Isle of Arran!

Cow Shed Crail Wedding Entertainment

The Ritz Trio headed across to Fife this week for a wedding at the Cow Shed near Crail.

The Cow Shed is located on the outskirts of Crail in the East Neuk of Fife, a beautiful corner of Scotland with stunning beaches, traditional fishing village. The Ritz Trio performed through the wedding ceremony then over the drinks reception.

We look forward to returning to the Cow Shed in Crail as it is provided the perfect backdrop to our entertainment and it really works well as a wedding venue. Thanks to the team for looking after us so well on the day and congratulations to the happy couple!

Elsick House Wedding Entertainment

Elsick House First Visit

The Ritz Trio made their first visit to Elsick House this week for a post wedding party. Elsick House is home to the Duke of Fife.

Elsick House is an exclusive use venue, situated a few miles south of Aberdeen and situated within 1500 acres. The picture was taken on the small bridge just in front of the main entrance to Elsick House. The Ritz Trio performed in a marquee situated close to the main building. Other entertainment on the day included a bucking broncho, which provided a few laughs!

Prior to performing the chaps enjoyed a walk through the walled cottage gardens – great inspiration!

Wedding Entertainment Post COVID

At last wedding entertainment post COVID can start to take place in Scotland, albeit it with restrictions. Whilst we are able to all enjoy a little more normality, COVID is still with us and is likely to be part of our lives for some time to come!

With hopefully the worst of COVID pandemic behind us, the Ritz Trio are delighted to be back out playing again! Over the last few weeks the Ritz Trio have been asked to play music for wedding ceremonies and drinks receptions although with guest numbers limited. The group have also seen an increase in bookings to play background music for evening receptions, most recently at Balbirnie House in Fife. It was a fabulous day with a very relaxed atmosphere. Just prior to the wedding breakfast the guests gathered on the lawn to watch the newly weds have their first dance – “Moondance”.

A number of couples have opted for a more laid back cocktail bar feel to the evening, whilst this is not new to the Ritz Trio it is good to see more people considering this approach to the evening which allows friends and family the opportunity to talk and catch up and be heard! We do however look forward to restrictions being fully lifted in the future to allow for dancing. see the latest guidance below for wedding receptions in Scotland.

the couple’s ‘first dance’
a dance between the couple’s parents provided they live in the same household

Physical distancing

Restrictions on physical distancing are also due to be lifted on 19th July, (subject to confirmation) This means that no distancing will be required in outdoor spaces at weddings. Indoors, physical distancing is due to be fixed at 1 metre across all venue types. This means that only 1m distancing will be required at ceremonies.

Balbirnie House Hotel – Our First Engagement Since Lockdown

Balbirnie House wedding band the Ritz Trio performed their first engagement at Balbirnie following the COVID lockdown.

The Trio have been regular faces at the venue in Fife for more than a decade. The Ritz Trio are delighted that they have been able to accommodate most weddings which transferred from 2020 to 2021. So next year looks like being a busy time. In the meantime the Trio are adding new foot-tapping songs and arrangements to the repertoire!

Themed Events Ideas

The Ritz Trio were delighted to be asked to play again at the lavishly themed Glasgow University Vet Ball which was held at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.

The theme chosen this year for the event was “Vintage Hollywood” and the Ritz Trio looked the part in their white dinner jackets.

Themed events are becoming more and more popular especially for weddings, corporate events and private parties. The Ritz Trio have taken on a number of guises recently ranging from vintage mechanics for a car launch to Peaky Blinders and Great Gatsby.

You can of course mix your themes. Recently the Trio played at a wedding which used their services to help create the 1920’s and later in the day another band moved things on to the 1980’s complete with leg warmers!

Some Themed Events Ideas

Peaky Blinders Trio

Spurred on by the recent success of the Peaky Blinders film, the Ritz Trio hang up their white tuxedos for overcoats and step back in time to cobbled backstreets, three-piece suits and peaked caps! Bring on the beer, Irish whisky, gin, spiced rum and champagne!

The Roaring 20’s

Roaring 20’s weddings remain popular and the Ritz Trio have been asked to play at a number of Gatsby themed events in Scotland. The Gatsby theme affords great possibilities for dressing the venue not to mention the guests! Gatsby feathers, headbands, long pearl necklaces, cigarette holders and spiffy pinstriped suits all look great!

The Trio have a special programme of tunes from the roaring 20’s including “The Charleston” and of course “Putting On The Ritz”. Other well known tunes include Bye Bye Blackbird, Five Foot Two Eyes of Blue and The Sheik of Araby. Guests will be sure to have a roaring great time -this one of our favourite themed events ideas!

James Bond Themed Events

This is one theme that the Ritz Trio very easily fit into with their white dinner jackets! A James Bond-themed party has it all, from the initial impact of the famous James Bond silhouette and flickering flame lights to a sophisticated bar layout with, of course, the vodka martinis!

Add in the incredible soundtracks, which the Ritz Trio enjoy playing and you have a perfect themed event.

And just in case you can’t remember any songs from James Bond movies here are some of our favourites; Diamonds are Forever, You Only Live Twice, Nobody Does It Better, Goldfinger and We Have All The Time in the World.
