Introducing the Ritz Trio, probably Scotland’s busiest wedding and events band specialising in providing music for during the wedding ceremony and drinks reception.  

The Ritz Trio recently provided music for a wedding at Gilmerton House on a very sunny and relaxed afternoon.

The Ceremony

The day started with the band’s guitarist serenading guests as they arrived for the ceremony. He played a romantic guitar arrangement of “Dream A Little Dream Of Me”, as requested by the couple.

During the signing of the register he again played another beautiful arrangement, this time of “What A Wonderful World”. The very moving ceremony ended with the happy couple being played out to “Fly Me To The Moon”.

The Ritz Trio have a specially selected set of  music ideal for during the ceremony helping you to create the mood and feel you are looking for. They are of course happy to hear your own requests and ideas.

If you are wanting a more traditional element to the ceremony, the Ritz Trio often use the services of a violinist to play alongside the guitarist.

The violinist is able to play most of the often requested ceremony pieces such as Pachelbel Canon in D and Highland Cathedral.

Drinks Reception

Following the ceremony the guests headed for the sunny patio area for the champagne reception accompanied by the swinging Ritz Trio. The House and gardens provided the perfect backdrop  for the Trio and their music.

During drinks the Ritz Trio played music ranging from Swing and Rat Pack to some fun arrangements of popular tunes such as “It Must Be Love, Love Love” “My Guy” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” to name a few!

Following the ceremony there can quite often be a lull whilst the happy couple are getting photos taken in Gilmerton’s  lovely gardens and rooms.  Having a band such as the Ritz Trio to perform during drinks can help to make guests feel relaxed and entertained.

So, don’t leave your guests sitting around, treat them to an experience they will never forget!

From time to time the Trio have been hired to stay on following drinks to play background music during the wedding breakfast. The Ritz Trio have a more laid back set for during the wedding breakfast.

Gilmerton House

Gilmerton House is an elegant, tranquil retreat with 6 exquisite reception rooms and 10 luxurious bedrooms with their own bathrooms. The Georgian stately home is conveniently located just 40 minutes from Edinburgh.

You arrive along a meandering drive which eventually opens up to reveal the spectacular frontage of a Grade A listed building.

This is an exclusive use wedding venue, which means you get the entire property for the duration of your stay, which is a nice thing. The main building accommodates up 20 residents.

When we arrived to set up to perform, one of the friendly staff was keen to show us the stunning Music Room that is located on the first floor.   I’m glad he did – what wonderful views over the terrace and the gardens! It featured  incredible wood paneling and and an open fireplace and has a capacity for  around 100 guests.

It’s quite easy to see how this wedding made it onto our best wedding venues in Scotland list!
