Looking for A Peaky Blinders Band?
Spurred on by the recent success of the Peaky Blinders TV series, the Ritz Trio step back in time and hang up their white tuxedos for overcoats, three-piece suits and peaked caps! Bring on the beer, Irish whisky, gin, spiced rum and champagne!
There’s nothing more classy than a vintage wedding theme and judging by the number of themed weddings the Ritz Trio have been asked to perform at, the idea remains ever popular with couples getting married in Scotland.
One reason for this popularity could be that themed, vintage weddings allow couples to add their own personal touches to create something that is truly unique and individual. The flexibility of a vintage theme is that you can adapt it to fit your tastes.
Barn and Byre Wedding Venues
In recent years there have been an increase in the number of barn and Byre wedding venues in Scotland. One venue which springs to mind, and one which the Ritz Trio Peaky Blinders Band perform at regularly, is Kinkell Byre in St Andrews. It’s large spaces provide a great environment for couples to create their themed wedding.
Some other venues of this type include Errol Park , the Byre at Inchyra, Wedderburn Castle in the borders, The Barn @ Barra Castle which opened in 2017, Pratis Barns in Leven, Fife and Comrie Croft, 200-year-old farmstead, house and barn set around a courtyard set in acres of Perthshire’s finest fields.
Other vintage wedding themes the Trio have been asked to be part of include Roaring 20’s weddings also remain popular, and the Gatsby theme affords great possibilities for dressing the venue not to mention the guests!
Gatsby feathers, headbands, long pearl necklaces, cigarette holders and spiffy pinstriped suits all look great!
The Trio have a special programme of tunes from the roaring 20’s including “The Charleston” and of course “Putting On The Ritz”. Other well known tunes include Bye Bye Blackbird, Five Foot Two Eyes of Blue and The Sheik of Araby. Guests will be sure to have a roaring great time!
You can of course mix your themes. Recently the Peaky Blinders band played at a wedding which used their services to help create the 1930’s and later in the day another band moved things on to the 1980’s complete with leg warmers!
Music For Your Wedding Ceremony
As the Ritz Trio are able to easily move locations why not consider using the Trio to play for your ceremony and then for the drinks reception?
The band has serenaded many brides down the aisle and the group’s guitarist is able to play appropriate solo pieces to add variety and change the mood during the signing of the register.
If you are wanting a more traditional element to the ceremony, the Trio often use the services of a violinist or a flautist to play alongside the guitarist performing many of the often requested ceremony pieces such as Pachelbel Canon in D and Highland Cathedral.
Other tunes we are often asked to play include Tonight, Tonight (From Westside Story), It Had To Be You, Air On G String, Here There And Everywhere (Beatles),What A Wonderful World, Moon River and Fly Me To The Moon.
We can also make suggestions for a few more contemporary pieces using the violin with the Ritz Trio throughout your ceremony and of course we are always happy to hear your own music ceremony requests!
Once the ceremony is over the Trio can quickly and with no fuss move through to “jazz up” your vintage wedding drinks reception!
The Ritz Trio band are regularly called on to provide their sophisticated music at prestigious venues such as Edinburgh Castle, Balbirnie House, The Old Course Hotel, Balmoral Hotel and Hopetoun House!
In addition to an early jazz repertoire for themed Peaky Blinders events, the Ritz Trio also play an extensive list of familiar Jazz standards such as Fly Me To The Moon, Have You Met Miss Jones, LOVE (Nat King Cole) ideal for non themed weddings
The repertoire also includes a few jazzy arrangements of some classic pop tunes such as Music To Watch Girls Go By and Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.
